The focus of PYAA Golf is having fun while learning the rules, etiquette and skills needed for a lifetime of golf. All leagues are for children who live in the Pickerington Local School District. Leagues are set up based on age and skill level; ranging from young and beginner to competitive leagues that help prepare players for the golf teams at Lakeview, North, Ridgeview, and Central.
Players are provided instruction by PGA Teaching Professionals and play at Turnberry Golf Course.
Golf Parent Volunteers Needed!
Golf Parent Volunteers will be assigned to each group for Scramblers and Players Leagues. Golf Parents will help to keep the kids on track and safe on the course. Golf Parents will not provide instruction on the course. Golf Parents will get orientation/training from Scott Jones, Head Golf Pro at Turnberry Golf Course. Please consider registering as a Golf Parent Volunteer under the registration link.
Scramblers League – Grades 2 thru 4
The focus is on an introduction to basic golf, fundamentals, basic etiquette and most of all, having fun.
Cost: $205
Lessons: 8 total hours with a student to teacher ratio maximum of 8:1 at Turnberry Golf Course
Playing: 4 Rounds of 6 holes on the course
Participants: Grades 2 through 4 (2024-2025 school year)
Playing Format: four kids will play as a team in a “scramble” format. This a non-competitive game where all four kids hit a shot each time and the team decides which is the “best” shot. Each member of the team plays their next shot from best choice until the hole is finished. They keep score as a team and play 6 holes each round. Kids play from shorter yardages - ranging from 75 to 200 yards.
Players Recreational League - Grades 5 thru 12
Designed to allow the players to continue to learn the game of gold and have fun while encouraging them to play competitive golf in the future.
Cost: $215
Lessons: 8 total hours with a student to teacher ratio maximum of 8:1 at Turnberry Golf Course
Playing: 6 Rounds of 6 holes on the course
Participants: Grades 5 through 12 (2024-2025 school year)
Playing Format: two kids play as a twosome team in “scramble” format against another twosome for 6 holes. Each member of the twosome hits a shot and then decide which is “best”. The twosome then plays the next shot from there. The twosome with the best score on the hole wins the hole. No standings are kept; since this is a recreational league. All players will play from the PURPLE family tees.
Premier Competitive League - Grades 6 thru 12
Designed for kids in the age range who have the desire to play or do play competitive golf and prepare for the school golf team.
Cost: $240
Lessons: 8 total hours with a student to teacher ratio maximum of 8:1 at Turnberry Golf Course
Playing: 6 Rounds of 9 holes
Participants: Grades 6 through 12 (2024-2025 school year)
Playing Format: Individual Match Play, one vs. one, for 9 holes. Match play is where each hole is either won, lost, or tied. The golfer who wins the most holes wins the match. Standings will be kept over the course of the season, with winners recognized at season’s end. Play is from the ORANGE tees for girls and WHITE tees for boys.
